Love In Abundance
27/04/12 13:06 Filed in: Relationship
Don’t be fooled by this whole New Age crap that tells you that
you have to give in order to receive.
You may think that it is very noble to give your money and possessions away. But you will go bankrupt before you ever get a thank you from any one of your receivers. The whole obsession with attracting abundance into your life is a fallacy. People just say that to sell books and to fill seats in workshops and conference centers. Most of us are never going to have an abundance of money. Because abundance is not really about money, it’s about love. Sadly, our approach to love is the same as our approach to money. We just can’t get enough of it.
Let’s face it. We live in a world where there’s limited resources.
As far as I can tell, it’s always been that way. It started with the barter system, where everything was based on a trade. People traded crops for services and services for crops. However, the barter system got a little complicated, when people’s services or crops were no longer needed. Then, someone came up with the brilliant idea to create money, a currency system that enabled people to buy whatever they wanted. People started to provide their services and products for money.
Now, people can’t get the barter system out of their heads.
When they go out and buy something. They want to get the best deal possible. They are looking for a bargain, a steal; the best deal money can buy. Why do people behave like this? Because they understand that resources are scarce and they have to get their money to stretch as far as possible.
Similarly, people have this same approach when it comes to love and relationships.
They treat love like it’s a currency. They will give love, only when they know they are going to get love in return. We treat love as if it’s a currency, or some kind of stock option that we can lose money on. Then, we are disappointed when the people we love don’t do what we say, or don’t behave the way we would have liked them to behave. We treat love like it is some kind of investment. When it starts to tank. We want to toss away our love like it was some kind of cheap knock-off bag.
Our loneliness is a result of our conditioning; we are reared to believe that love is scarce.
It is something that we have to work for, or something that we have to earn. So we go through life, writing ‘”love checks” mistakenly believing that other people are going to meet our needs. We do things to please other people; we make so many sacrifices just to feel loved. But love is not a sell-out. It cannot be brought or sold. Love is the only resource that is unlimited. The only thing that we have in abundance is love.
However, we create a lot of problems when we feel that love has to be rationed, when we put all these conditions on love. Loving with certain expectations is the wrong way to love. Why? Because 99.9% of the time you are going to be disappointed. The truth of the matter is that no one will ever be able to meet your needs better than you. No one can love you better than you. Once you understand this, you understand your richness, your wealth, and your value in life.
Then you can become fearless. You are able to rip the chains off your heart.
And you can write those “love checks” as if you have billions of dollars in the bank. You will never be afraid of taking a loss. Because you are never at a loss when it comes to love. This is why people say that its better to give than to receive.

If You Can't Love Yourself
26/04/12 10:30 Filed in: Self-development,
Spiritual,
When you live in a city as big and as dynamic as New York City,
you can’t help to notice the homeless problem.
Homeless people are everywhere, in street alleys, on the subway, even in the lobby areas of 24-hour restaurants. They carry around small cups, buckets, or upside down baseball caps that contain loose change that they jiggle around like Christmas bells. These people are secretly hoping that others will be in the “giving mood” and slip them a dollar or two. Some walk around with numerous bags, or just one single carrying case. They look disheveled, dirty, desolate, and completely hopeless. “As if they have been cheated by fate.” The sad truth of the matter is, they have. We are cheated by fate when we don’t understand our value or purpose in life.
It is still the American dream to own a huge house, maybe a mini mansion with a two-car garage and backyard that is as big as a baseball field.
Homeownership is important to a lot of people because it not only offers a sense of security, but it is a reflection of our accomplishments and wealth. A huge portion of people’s income actually goes towards their mortgage payment, repairs, expansions, and maintenance of their house. Why is this? Because people understand the value of attaining wealth, of purchasing a property that is “supposed to” appreciate in value.
I mentioned before that the physical world actually mirrors the spiritual world.
Only in the spiritual world, our house is represented by our stability, security, confidence, and love that we have for ourselves. Our self -love is a measurement of what we have accomplished spiritually. With this said, the more work we put into ourselves, the more we should appreciate in value. All religions preach about self-love, for it works as a foundation for all facets of development. How many times have we heard the phrase, you can’t love anybody if you don’t love yourself? This saying is very true, for your self-love is a representation of your inner wealth.
In Ifa, we stress the concept of reciprocity because everything in nature is an exchange.
But if you don’t have self-love, there is no exchange. You become a beggar, a vagabond who drifts through life with no real direction or purpose. People don’t like you, or respect you, and treat you like the trash you smell like, because you have nothing to give. You are a beggar, and you have defied all the rules of nature. Because you want to receive something without giving, you want to get more than what you put in. You want to cheat the system, but in the end, you’re just being cheated by a bigger system called fate.

Ifa Yoruba Religion
25/04/12 12:28 Filed in: Ifa
I’ve said it a million times. Ifa as a religion has incredibly
difficult concepts that are hard for the average person to
understand.
Many people just accept Ifa based on its face value. But that’s the wrong way to approach an ancient religion derived from West Africa. Ifa is more of a science. It works with the Odu, a religious blueprint that guides us through life.
I mentioned before in previous articles that spirituality is about growth.
Enlightenment is about awareness, understanding all of our possibilities, so we can make the right decisions. We also want to work to avoid the wrong decisions. We want to reach our goals, have great relationships and successful careers with the least amount of problems. However, in order to do this, we have to understand the mechanics of nature. When we examine the mechanics of nature, we are able to study the different parts, and understand how they function. When we know how things work, we are then able to alter it to our benefit.
I’ve often talked about energy systems.
I’ve given the example of our metabolism being an energy system. We can’t see it. We can’t feel it. However, we know that it exists. Nutritionist had to study the human body and our metabolisms in order to create standards of measurements such as calories, fat grams, and carbohydrates. By doing this they were able to regulate the amount of energy going into the body and the amount of energy going out. By understanding the mechanics of energy, they were able to manipulate body mass and weight.
There are thousands, if not millions of energy systems.
These systems are inside of our body, and in both the physical and subtle world. Ifa is a nature base religion. The rituals, initiations, parables, and songs give us the information we need to study the mechanics of the natural world. Understanding Ifa and the Odu is like holding the master key, for it allows us to unlock all of nature’s doors. Rituals are very structural, for it allows priest to get consistent and accurate results. Much like a scientific experiment, they work with different variables to produce a certain behavior and outcomes. So in a nutshell, there really is no separation between science and spirituality. In fact, science is the study of spirituality. When we know how things work, and how to work with them. We can then turn the ideal into something real.

Spiritual Awareness and Avoiding The Slippery Slopes In Life
11/04/12 23:02 Filed in: Enlightenment,
Awareness, Aware
If you ask any artist, producer, or
writer, they would say that almost every story has to have some
kind of profound meaning. There has to be some sort of underlying
principle or theme that resonates deeply with the soul. I can name
dozens of movies that I absolutely love. However, the one that has
the most spiritual meaning is the dark comedy classic “Gremlins.”
Yes, the movie was brilliantly written with a moral message that
warns people to avoid the slippery slopes in life.
It is unfortunate that most people don’t really learn one of life’s lessons, until they experience the dire consequences of their actions. Gizmo was a cute little creature that was discovered and purchased in China-Town. Everything was great until little Gizmo was brought to suburbia. Emerged in the perfect world, the owner got careless, and despite admonitions from the seller. He spilled water on little Gizmo. This created the multiplier effect where little Gizmo gave birth to four other Gizmos. Then, the owner fed the little Gizmos after midnight and all hell broke loose. The cute snuggly, little creatures turned into nasty, ugly, menacing Gremlins that wrecked havoc on the town. They were destroyed by lightness and thrived in the dark.
Everyday, we are warned. We have spiritual text such as the Bible and Odu that guide us through life. We pretty much know right from wrong. However, there are defining moments when our weaknesses get the best of us. We think that it is okay to let things slide. We believe that we can do the wrong thing, just once, and everything will be okay. But our weaknesses have a multiplier effect. We then start to attract people and create experiences that align with the worse parts of our selves. Then things escalate out of control. This results in utter and complete chaos.
Gizmo, as cute and adorable as he was, had the ability to turn into an ugly nasty Gremlin. The movie was not only a reflection of our society, but also a mockery of how we allow bad choices to turn us into monsters. We feel the pain of our choices when our worlds come crashing down. And we are faced with consequences of anarchy, war, and destruction. This is what happens when we are guided by our weaknesses. We gravitate toward the wrong people and situations that wreck havoc on our lives. The secret is to be aware. The Gremlins couldn’t survive in the dark and neither can our weaknesses. It is through awareness that allows us to avoid the slippery slope of life.

Who Is Orunmila?
09/04/12 17:17 Filed in: Orunmila,
Yoruba, Ifa, Odu, Babalawos
Baba Ifa Karade conducts weekly
teachings on Ifa, African parables, and Odu liturgy. In the first
class he asked his attendees about Orunmila and the Odu. When Baba
asked me about Orunmila, I was speechless. To be honest, I knew
very little about the African prophet, and the information on the
Internet was almost non-existent. Then, Baba started to ask me more
difficult questions. Why is it that people know about great
prophets like Muhammad and Jesus Christ (JC), but nothing about
Orunmila? I thought long and hard about these questions. I’ve come
to understand through my studies of Ifa, that it is not just about
face value. The information is layered in such a way, that one
really has to break down the elements in order to understand its
true meaning.
In my opinion, people don’t understand the importance of Orunmila, because they really don’t understand Muhammad or JC. Prophets are really the spiritual leaders of the community. In modern times, we would say that they possess the “It Factor.” They have the power and insight to encourage change. There are a lot of people who actually fall into this category. However, prophets are single handedly able to change the perception of the entire world. But this is not an easy task. People tend to stick with the status quo because they would rather be in control than experience growth. People like to be in control because it ensures their own survival.
This is what separates the Great Prophets from ordinary man. They are on a higher level of consciousness and know and see things that ordinary man cannot. They work to implement change. The suffering that these prophets actually endure come from these oppositional forces. They are constantly fighting against the resentment, betrayal, and deceit of man. Yet, they keep moving, keep preaching, they keep pushing along, because they truly “know” that they have a message that can transcend all of mankind. When we talk about JC dying for our sins, we are talking about all the pain He endured to raise the level of human consciousness. It is because we fail to make a connection to these prophets that we don’t really see the value in ours.
In short, Orunmila is a prophet who spread the word of Ifa to aspirants in Africa. He brought down the Odu and worked with a team of Babalawos to ensure that people continued to fight against forces that resisted the flow of nature. Through the divination system, Orunmila worked to ensure that people tapped into their power and worked to transcend the overall consciousness of the human race. The Benefits of Meditation
09/04/12 15:27 Filed in:
meditation, sickness, illness, subtle body.
There is one day that I can never
forget. The Rodney King trial and the Los Angeles race riots that
soon followed. I can still see the image of Channel Six News
helicopters scurrying the area, taking shots of a city in peril.
Thousands of people were running around in the streets, buildings
were set on fire, businesses were looted, and police officers
worked to try and restore order and peace. Of course, it was
absolute chaos. But chaos is only a temporary state of disorder so
that consciousness can arrange itself into a higher level of
existence.
Very few people understand that progress is really about change. People fail to understand that without interference we will keep repeating the same patterns of behavior without any progress. Every time we start to doubt our perception of reality, we give ourselves a chance to undergo a paradigm shift that will turn the tables for all of humanity. Our external state is merely a reflection of our internal state. Because we don’t have a proper handle or understanding of our internal states, that chaos that resides within us boils over into the physical world.
If we don’t work to overcome our weaknesses, our weaknesses will overcome us. This happens because we are all on a constant cycle of chaos. However, chaos starts to destroy us when we fail to take the necessary steps to change. I mentioned before that everything in the world operates using some kind of energy system, our digestive system, our endocrine system, even our metabolism. Sickness is a form of chaos. Certain cells in our bodies, or certain elements of the soul are revolting. They are rising up and looting (stealing energy from other parts of the body). Setting things on fire (destroying positive cells or elements of the human soul that are needed to combat disease).
It is through the art of meditation that we can began to understand the workings of our internal state. Chaos destroys a lot of people because they try to remedy their problems from the physical world. However, attacking our problems from within, in the subtle world, is ten times more powerful. We have direct contact with spirit through meditation. And we are not restricted to the laws of the physical world such as time, space and limitations. Chaos destroys us when our internal systems are mismanaged. It is through meditation that we are able to take charge, put out fires, and manage tension before it escalates out of control. Learning the art of meditation is paramount to spiritual development. Contact us today for more information about meditation and taking a more preventative approach on life.
